Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga refers specifically to the physical aspect of yoga. The word hatha in Sankskrit means, “force”, which can describe the strengthening movements of the body during a yoga class.

Historically, physical movement was just one small part of the larger yoga tradition, but today the physical exercises known as Hatha yoga are what many recognize as modern yoga. Classes described as “hatha” often blend a few different styles rather than emphasizing jus one.
